Community School Classes

Body Sculpt

Body Sculpt is a class that utilizes weights to reshape your body and keep you in shape for any sport. It begins with a great warm up and ends with a very nice cool down. Weights are optional, results are guaranteed. Classes are Mondays and Thursdays from 6 – 7 pm at Keene-Riverview Elementary. Glenna Dragoo is the instructor. The class is offered one day per week for $20 a month or $60 for three months; or participants can choose to attend both classes per week for a $30 month or $75 for three months.

 

Adult Open Gym Basketball

The City of Prosser will be offering adult open gym basketball Wednesday nights from 7 – 9 p.m. at Housel Middle School. Cost is $25.00 for the school year.  

 

Tournament Chess

Here is a great opportunity for children in grades K-12 to learn how to play tournament chess. Participants will learn the basic chess moves and game strategies. Classes are on Thursdays at Keene-Riverview in the MPR from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. Classes begin on October 19th and go through March. Cost is $25.00 for the entire year. Parents of children K-6 are expected to assist in class at least one Thursday per month. Alan Kawakami is the instructor.

 

Great Games

This a class full of fun activities for boys and girls ages 6-9 years to enjoy. Children in the class will use the basic skills they learn in P.E. to play some new games and go to a higher level with some of their favorite activities. They will help create the curriculum to ensure that a good time is had by all.  Some possible activities are hockey, soccer, bowling (on-site), climbing, jump rope, scooters, relays and group games. Session times are 2:45 to 4:00 p.m. (right after school) at the Keene Riverview Gym. Cost is $35 per child, per session. Class size is limited to 40 students.

 

Photo Workshop

This five session class is a true workshop, alternating class sessions with practical on-location photo-taking sessions. Who should sign up? Picture takers who want to improve their picture taking abilities using composition, camera angles, different lenses, sharpness/blur, better lighting, posing styles, silhouettes, computer enhancements of digital images, etc. What will you need? A camera. Best is one which allows you to over-ride the automatic settings and pick your own, but any kind of camera is welcome, (film or digital). Cameras requiring film will need three rolls of film to use during the picture-taking sessions. The class will meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Prosser Senior Center. Cost is $15 per person (persons who are younger than 15 should plan to attend with an adult). Leif Luglan is the course instructor.
